Super Bowl Plays Ad by Pogo Pictures During Game
An award-winning director and cinematographer in Atlanta, Georgia, Steve Colby established the commercial production company Pogo Pictures in 1999. Under his leadership, Pogo Pictures earned a reputation as one of the most successful companies of its kind in the southeast. Steve Colby’s business has produced two commercials that appeared during a Super Bowl game, one of which starred his pet Nigerian dwarf goat, Moose.
During the 2019 Super Bowl, the Norwegian Cruise Line advertisement that Pogo Pictures created earned a 30-second spot around the half-time break. The ad, entitled Good to Be Free, was the first Norwegian Cruise Line commercial featured on a Super Bowl game in 25 years. Norwegian Cruise Line’s last-minute decision was based on the success of the test runs of the commercial. The ad depicted Norwegian Cruise Line patrons having a good time on the ship.
Good to Be Free was the second Pogo Pictures production that played during a Super Bowl game. In 2013, the broadcast aired Goat for Sale, a commercial for Doritos that featured Moose eating a Doritos product. It became a hit and was named by The Independent as among the Super Bowl’s 10 most unforgettable advertisements of all time.
